To protect the campus ecological environment, the Youth Volunteer Association of the School of Physical Science and Technology held the "Campus Pet Guardian" volunteer service activity near the Xihu Lake in the Xipu campus of Southwest Jiaotong University on the afternoon of May 20, 2023. At the beginning of the activity, the volunteers first patrolled the lawn around the Xihu Lake. The volunteers, who were holding cleaning tools, respectfully cleaned up the garbage around the lake, and advised visitors to behave in a civilized manner, preventing behaviors such as feeding the animals indiscriminately and chasing and playing on the lawn. The volunteers actively participated and were responsible, making their own contribution to maintaining the campus ecological environment.

After the volunteers completed the cleaning work, they came to the exhibition board near the lake and used colorful pens to write their love and wishes for the campus pets. The activity attracted a large number of passers-by and tourists to join in. Everyone participated enthusiastically and actively created, either drawing their own campus pet images in their minds or writing slogans such as "please do not feed the animals indiscriminately" to protect the campus pets. Every stroke and every word expressed the volunteer enthusiasm of "Campus Pet Guardians, we are in action."

At the same time, in the Zheting, the Youth Association organized a "Protecting Campus Pets" knowledge quiz activity. The quiz questions were designed around the living habits, habitat, and dietary habits of the "campus pet" black swan, using a popular and interesting game method to promote participants' understanding and learning about the ways and common sense of protecting campus pets. This section also set up rich prizes, further mobilizing the enthusiasm of volunteers and tourists.

This activity enhanced students' awareness of environmental protection, allowing them to further understand the living habits and historical origins of the "campus pet" swans and the importance of living in harmony with nature. Most importantly, it guided a large number of activity participants to learn to focus on the present, care for campus pets, behave civilly when visiting Xihu Lake, and refuse harmful ecological behaviors. The environmental protection concept of "protecting the campus environment and striving to be a campus pet guardian" was spread to every corner of the southwest Jiaotong University campus.
