On September 21, the 4th International Forum on Structural Health Monitoring and Non-Destructive Testing (SHMNDT) opened in Chengdu. The forum was jointly organized by Southwest Jiaotong University, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China and Chengdu Zhudao Science & Technology Co., LTD. The core theme was "Progress of Structural health Monitoring and Non-destructive testing Technology in the era of Industry 4.0". The latest advances in relevant technologies in the context of digital integration, connectivity and extensive networks are highlighted. The forum brought together industry leaders and experts from home and abroad, providing a unique platform for discussing cutting-edge technology and practical experience in the field of structural health monitoring and nondestructive testing. The forum thoroughly implemented the spiritual content of the Party's 20th congress, implemented the strategy of rejuvenating the country through science and education, the strategy of strengthening the country through talent, and the strategy of innovation-driven development, and fully exchanged the application and innovation of nondestructive testing technology in various projects in recent years.
The forum was chaired by Professor Gao Xiaorong and presided over the opening ceremony. More than 100 well-known experts in the industry attended the conference through online and offline ways. At the opening ceremony, Professor He Chuan, Vice President of Southwest Jiaotong University, delivered a speech. President He pointed out that this is an academic event that brings together outstanding scholars, outstanding researchers and industry elites from all over the world, and is an important platform to promote technological innovation, promote cooperation and exchange, and promote the sustainable and healthy development of the industry. Professor Bernd Velaske, director of the German Franhofer Institute for Non-Destructive Testing, said in his speech that the International Forum on Structural Health Testing and Non-destructive Testing has been held for three sessions, as the initiator, I am very happy to see industry experts from various countries working diligently to overcome key technologies and challenges, and I wish the forum a success. Mr. Qiang Tianpeng, Chairman of the Council of the Far East Non-Destructive Testing New Technology Forum, said that with the construction of ultra-large projects and the development of high-end equipment worldwide, real-time health monitoring of engineering structures and key equipment, identification of damage and assessment of their performance and life, and the establishment of a corresponding early warning mechanism are not only of great scientific significance for improving the safety and reliability of structures. In addition, it can reduce the operation and maintenance costs of the structure and has high economic value, so the structural health monitoring and non-destructive testing forum provides a very valuable platform for communication and cooperation.
The main forum of the conference followed. Tian GUI Yun, professor of Newcastle University and University of Electronic Science and Technology, Professor Bernd Velaske, director of the Franhofer Institute for Nondestructive Testing in Germany, Professor Gao Hongli, Southwest Jiaotong University, and Dr. Johannes Vrana, President of NDE4.0 of the International Association for Nondestructive Testing, made keynote reports respectively. The most advanced technical viewpoints and engineering application cases of structural health testing and non-destructive testing technology were shared for the industry. After the keynote report, the Forum carried out four parallel sub-session reports on SHM&NDT innovative methods, key international cooperation projects and rail transit NDT innovative technologies.
On the morning of the 22nd, after carrying out two thematic reports on NDE4.0 and its application, and SHM-NDT innovative methods, the forum focused on the core theme of "Structural health monitoring and non-destructive testing technology Progress in the era of Industry 4.0", and carried out a seminar. Carry out in-depth discussion and exchange on cutting-edge theories, key technologies and innovative applications. Guests attending the Panel Discussion included Prof. Tian Guiyun, Prof. Bernd Valeske, Prof. Gao Xiaorong, Prof. Ji Xuanrong and Prof. Yin Xiaokang. Afterwards, the Forum arranged to visit the National Key Laboratory of Rail Transit Carrier System of Southwest Jiaotong University.
This forum is not only a passionate discussion of cutting-edge technology, but also a profound insight into the era of Industry 4.0, providing an important communication platform for scientific research, technological innovation and industrial development in the field of structural health monitoring and non-destructive testing. Through various forms such as academic reports, theme forums, poster displays and academic visits, in-depth exchanges and cooperation between the participants were promoted. This will not only help expand the horizon, but also promote the continuous development and upgrading of the field of rail transit non-destructive testing, which is of great significance to realize China's transformation from a transportation power to a transportation power.
