On the afternoon of October 19, 2023, the preliminary round of the 11th Young Teachers' Teaching Competition in the School of Physical Science and Technology took place in room X30334, with dozens of outstanding young teachers from the college participating. The event was graced by the presence of Vice Deans Jia Huanyu and Li Xiangqiang, as well as a panel of five expert judges.
The participating teachers represented various departments within the School of Physics, each with their unique areas of expertise and subjects they teach. However, their teaching styles and abilities were truly exceptional, with their courses exuding a captivating charm akin to "teaching like a spring breeze, turning sorrow into laughter." For instance, Ms. Du Huarong connected physics knowledge with poetry and culture, explaining poems through physics terminology like circular aperture diffraction and optical instrument resolution. Ms. Wan Yingying used vivid language to make complex knowledge, such as photoelectric detection and mechanical visual systems, easily understandable. Mr. Liu Hai used real-life examples to help students better grasp the concept of angular momentum conservation in rigid body rotational motion. Ms. Lin Yuexia, with her clear thinking and powerful voice, explained the Hall effect in the microcosmic world, making it easily comprehensible and learnable. Each of these teachers exuded youthful vitality, and it is believed that they will undoubtedly spark brilliance in the classroom alongside their students.
After an afternoon of impressive teaching displays, the five expert judges provided their earnest hopes and suggestions for the young teachers and selected the teachers who would advance to the university-level finals. These teachers are Ms. Lin Yuexia, Mr. Tang Yongliang, Mr. Shen Junfeng, Ms. Du Huarong, and Ms. Wan Yingying.
In recent years, the college has relied on the Southwest Jiaotong University Young Teachers' Lecture Competition to continuously organize teaching and lecture competition activities for young teachers in various departments. These activities focus on honing the basic teaching skills of young teachers and serve as an important means to enhance their teaching abilities. This initiative has successfully fostered a teaching culture in the college with the slogan "through competition, we promote teaching, learning, and research," effectively promoting the professional growth of young teachers.
The Young Teachers' Teaching Competition is not just an event; it embodies a steadfast commitment to education, providing a platform for young teachers to showcase their teaching skills. Throughout this process, young teachers from the college actively participate, continually pursue excellence, and strive to achieve educational goals. Through competitive learning, young teachers not only hone their basic teaching skills but also have the opportunity to delve into curriculum design and teaching methods, continuously elevating their teaching and educational standards.
