In order to effectively carry out the application work for the 2024 National Natural Science Foundation, improve the quality of fund proposals, and further enhance the success rate of the National Natural Science Foundation, the School of Physical Science and Technology held a National Natural Science Foundation project application guidance meeting on the afternoon of January 17, 2024. The meeting invited Professor Zhou Zuowan, Dean of the School of Chemistry, Professor Ma Zheng, Party Secretary of the School of Information Science and Technology, Professor Song Wensheng, Vice Dean of the School of Zhuzhou Times Microelectronics, and Professor Liu Siming from the School of Physical Science and Technology as the guiding experts for this meeting. Li Zhuohui, Secretary of the school's party committee, Vice Dean Jia Huanyu (in charge of the work), Vice Dean of the Research Institute Ma Lin, Liu Hailong from the Basic Research Management Department of the Research Institute, and more than 40 teachers from the school participated in this fund guidance meeting, chaired by Professor Cheng Jun, Assistant Dean of the School of Physics.
Professor Cheng Jun first introduced the attending leaders and experts. Li Zhuohui, Secretary of the school's party committee, thanked the experts on behalf of the school for taking the time to provide special guidance to the teachers on fund application. Subsequently, Vice Dean Ma Lin of the Research Institute gave a report titled "2023 National Fund Funding Situation and 2024 Application Work Arrangements," providing a detailed interpretation of the relevant policies of the National Natural Science Foundation, reporting on the funding approval situation of the School of Physical Science and Technology in 2023, the school's fund application plan for 2024, and pointing out key considerations during the application process based on past fund applications. Following this, 17 teachers from the School of Physical Science and Technology, including Liu Haifeng, reported on the preparation status for the 2024 National Natural Science Foundation, focusing on project research background, significance, innovation, and issues encountered during the application process. During the meeting, the experts conducted in-depth analyses of the teachers' research content, technical routes, research foundations, and previous review comments, providing many pertinent opinions and suggestions on research directions, scientific issues, and more. The entire fund guidance meeting lasted nearly four and a half hours.
Finally, Vice Dean Jia Huanyu of the school summarized the fund guidance meeting. Vice Dean Jia pointed out that the experts had provided many good suggestions for improving the teachers' fund applications, expressing gratitude to the experts for their guidance and assistance to the school's teachers in fund application. Vice Dean Jia hoped that the teachers would carefully summarize, deeply refine, and fully commit to the application work of the National Natural Science Foundation based on the experts' advice, aiming to achieve better results in the 2024 National Natural Science Foundation application.
