To the 2021 graduate students and supervisors of the School of Physical Science and Technology:

According to the "Regulations of Southwest Jiaotong University on the Education of Master's Degree Graduate Students" (SWJTU Graduate [2021] No. 47) and the "Management Measures for Graduate Thesis Process of the School of Physical Science and Technology", master's degree graduate students are generally required to complete mid-term assessment of their thesis before the end of the fourth semester.

The mid-term assessment of the master's thesis for 2021 graduate students must be completed before the end of this semester. The basic conditions that should be met when participating in the mid-term assessment are: completion of all course credits specified in the training plan, with most non-course credits already completed; the thesis proposal has been approved, and stage achievements in academic research and thesis work have been obtained.

Master's students who fail the mid-term assessment of their thesis for the first time should be given a warning and required to provide improvement measures, which will be reported to their school. After rectification, they can take the mid-term assessment again in the next semester. If they fail the mid-term assessment twice, the expert group will make a recommendation for "dismissal" and report to the school. See the attached documents (Attachments 1 and 2) for specific requirements. Students who pass the mid-term assessment will receive 2 credits and qualify to continue their thesis work.

The mid-term assessment of the master's thesis for 2021 graduate students will be organized by the teaching and research office. Students will write a mid-term assessment report on their thesis, and the teaching and research office will convene an expert group composed of at least three experts with the qualification of supervising master's students in relevant disciplines to review and evaluate the student's report. The results of the mid-term assessment will be recorded as "pass" or "fail".

Graduate students who participate in the mid-term assessment this semester should submit the paper version of the "Mid-term Assessment Report of Master's Thesis" and the "Record Form of Mid-term Assessment Report of Master's Thesis" with relevant signature opinions to Ms. Wang at the Graduate Education and Teaching Center of the School of Physical Science and Technology (Xipu Campus, Room 30332) before July 7, 2023. Electronic scanned copies should be submitted in the graduate system's application for mid-term assessment management of the thesis.

After the mid-term assessment, each teaching and research office should return the statistical form of the mid-term assessment to Ms. Wang before July 7, 2022.
