Stars shine brightly, and hard work paves the way for a new chapter in pursuing dreams. In order to thoroughly study and implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and the 15th Party Congress of the university, promote students to develop good character of self-reliance, self-confidence, and self-improvement, showcase the youth and struggle of Jiaotong University students, and set up excellent models of work-study and hard work, the Party Committee Student Affairs Department (Student Aid Management Center) hosted and the School of Physical Science and Technology undertook the "Pursuing Dreams with Diligence and Shining Life" work-study star selection activity on the evening of May 29th in the No.1 Lecture Hall of the library on the Xipu campus. Teachers from the Party Committee Student Affairs Department and various work-study units and student representatives attended the event. After watching the video of the contestants' performance, Guo Jian, the deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Physical Science and Technology, took the stage and shared his views on work-study programs with the students. He mentioned that the "Work-Study Star" selection activity is taking place during the comprehensive study and implementation of Xi Jinping's Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. The purpose is to establish a group of work-study and hardworking representative models, promote students to develop good character of self-reliance, self-confidence, and self-improvement, better combine "supporting intelligence" with "supporting aspiration", and lead students to form correct life values. He also expressed his best wishes to the contestants.
Through personal application, unit recommendation, preliminary review by judges, and public display, a total of 17 contestants from different schools and work-study units participated in the activity. Some of them focused on the theme of "Climbing High Peaks", telling their stories of overcoming difficulties, studying for more than 12 hours a day, and shining on their work-study posts; some focused on the improvement of work awareness and ability brought about by work-study programs, emphasizing the changes brought about by work-study programs; and others shared their friendships and touching stories gained on their work-study posts. Although the participating students have experienced difficulties, they have all bravely pursued their dreams, remained positive and proactive, never lowered their heads, and bravely faced the challenges of fate. They have crossed hurdles and mountains with their continuous efforts, creating their own brilliant achievements on their respective work-study posts.
Through the wonderful defense and presentation, 10 "Work-Study Stars" winners were finally selected by on-site voting. In this activity, each contestant demonstrated their unique story and insights, allowing students to deeply appreciate the diversity of life and individual value. They also proved that they can shine brightly in different positions. With real actions and perseverance, the valuable experience of work-study will become their eternal memories and continue to inspire them to strive for excellence and never give up in the future.
