On the afternoon of Thursday, June 15th, 2023, the Physics Department Party Branch launched a political learning activity for all faculty and staff in office X30326. The study included excerpts from Xi Jinping's speeches on investigation and research, the spirit of the exchange symposium on theme education of the Ministry of Education, and Xie Dong's sharing of his experience attending the training course for "dual-leadership" teacher Party branch secretaries. All party members of the branch participated in the study, which was chaired by Vice Secretary Zhu Hao. Jia Dongmin, the deputy secretary of the school's Discipline Inspection Commission, participated in the study and supervision.
Xie Dong, the Party Secretary of the Physics Department, led everyone to study the relevant content of Xi Jinping's speeches on investigation and research. "Excerpts from Xi Jinping's speeches on investigation and research" includes more than 140 important documents such as reports, speeches, articles, instructions, and instructions issued by General Secretary Xi Jinping from November 15th, 2012 to March 5th, 2023. They are divided into 8 topics, with a total of 201 sections. After completing the study, Xie Dong, the Party Secretary of the branch, proposed that the current curriculum reform and construction of the Physics Department requires us to actively conduct investigation and research. He also organized party members to discuss how to carry out investigation and research. Branch member Ma Xiaojuan conveyed the spirit of the exchange symposium on theme education of the Ministry of Education. On May 31st, the theme education leadership group of the Ministry of Education held a meeting, chaired and addressed by Minister Huai Jinping. The meeting pointed out that universities that spoke highly of theme education have closely combined theme education with central work, Party building and ideological and political work, and the fundamental task of cultivating morality and talents, forming many good experiences and practices. They should be vigorously publicized to further promote universities to learn from and surpass each other. The meeting emphasized that we should focus on theoretical learning and education. The main goal of theme education is to achieve positive results through soul-casting and intelligence-enhancing, truly consolidate the strength of the education system, unite and promote the construction of an education power. We should learn to cast the soul and enhance intelligence, focus on solving the problem of "trust," and strengthen our ideals and beliefs.
Xie Dong shared his experience attending the training course for "dual-leadership" teacher Party branch secretaries. The first phase of the "dual-leadership" branch secretary training course at Southwest Jiaotong University was held from June 8th to 10th, 2023 at the Emei Campus. Xie Dong, as the Party Secretary of the Physics Department Party Branch, participated in this study. During the study, he deeply realized that Party building work must be combined with business work, and he discussed some preliminary ideas on how to link the Party building work of the branch with the business work of the department, including combining the Party building work with teaching and research work, and carrying out "joint construction" activities with external companies or research institutions. Finally, all party members of the department had a lively discussion on this issue and put forward various suggestions.
