In June in Chengdu, the future has arrived. On the evening of June 21, 2024, the graduation ceremony and degree awarding for the Class of 2024 of the School of Physical Science and Technology took place at the Student Activity Center on the third floor of the cafeteria at the Xipu Campus. Attendees included Secretary Li Zhuohui of the college’s Party committee, Acting Dean Jia Huanyu, high-level talent Liu Siming, Deputy Secretary and Vice Dean Guo Jian, Deputy Secretaries Wei Zhenxing, Vice Deans Li Xiangqiang, Li Jinlong, Ni Yuxiang, Assistant Dean Zhou Tao, Party committee member Liu Qijun, heads of various departments and administrative offices, class advisor representatives, all counselors, parent representatives, and the graduating class of 2024.
Secretary Li Zhuohui expressed his heartfelt wishes and warm congratulations to all graduates about to embark on their next journey. He fondly recalled the academic journeys and life experiences of the graduates during their time at the university, highly praising their outstanding talents and relentless efforts over the past few years. He expressed hope and blessings for the students to achieve new and greater accomplishments in their future studies and careers.
Graduate representative Zhang Yiyuan shared his heartfelt memories of his time at the School of Physical Science and Technology. He spoke of the hard work of his teachers and shared his own story of perseverance, affirming that he would always uphold the belief of "investigating things to understand principles" and maintain his thirst for knowledge as a qualified student of Southwest Jiaotong University.
Deputy Secretary and Vice Dean Guo Jian presented certificates to the provincial-level outstanding graduates, wishing them a bright future and further achievements.
As a farewell gesture, the college prepared thoughtful gifts for each graduate. Acting Dean Jia Huanyu personally presented gifts to the graduate representatives, along with warm blessings. During the ceremony, the graduates, filled with deep emotions and endless gratitude, prepared two unique gifts: a large paper fan inscribed with "Unity of Knowledge and Action," symbolizing the graduates’ commitment to the spirit of physics; and a painting titled "Pengbei Sea, Fengchaoyang," encapsulating their beautiful expectations for the future of the college.
Receiving their degrees is not only an acknowledgment of the graduates' hard work but also the best testament to a new stage in their lives. After Vice Dean Li Xiangqiang announced the degree conferral decisions, Acting Dean Jia Huanyu, Professor Liu Siming, and Professor Zhang Jianqiong proceeded to each graduate in their academic regalia. At that moment, the atmosphere was filled with solemnity and anticipation. As they moved their tassels, the graduates were imbued with the belief and courage to venture into a broader world, ready to embrace new challenges and opportunities. This marks the culmination of their years of study and is a testament to their life journeys.
After Deputy Secretary Wei Zhenxing presented the appointment letters to the alumni council members, all counselors took the stage to sing a collective song for the graduates. They wished them a bright future and further achievements in their new life journeys!
