On the morning of January 11, 2023, the Teaching Guidance Committee Meeting of the National Physics Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center (Southwest Jiaotong University) was held in Room 30345 of Building No.3 on the Xipu Campus, using a combination of online and offline methods. The Director of the Teaching Guidance Committee of the Demonstration Center, Professor Han Zhong from the School of Physics, Chongqing University, and committee members including Professor Ma Jie, Vice President of Shanxi University, Professor Xiang Gang, Vice Dean of the School of Physics, Sichuan University, and Professor Sun Jinghua, Director of the Physics Experimental Center at Harbin Engineering University, as well as Professor Jia Huanyu, Vice Dean (in charge of work) and Professor Wu Ping from the School of Physical Science and Technology of our university, attended the meeting. Deputy Director Wen Yumin from the Asset and Laboratory Management Department of Southwest Jiaotong University attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Vice Dean Guo Jian presided over the meeting.
Professor Li Xiangqiang, the Director of the Demonstration Center, reported on the relevant work of the National Physics Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center for 2022, covering four aspects including the basic situation of the center, annual routine work, annual key work, and next year's work plan. The emphasis was on reporting the achievements and results of the center in hardware construction supported by the Ministry of Education's procurement plan, exploration of teaching modes and reform promotion, college student innovation and entrepreneurship activities, and participation in competitions. In addition, Professor Li also reported on the center's work in laboratory management, external exchanges, open operation, and demonstration radiation, as well as the center's key work plan for 2023.
The experts of the Teaching Guidance Committee reviewed the annual report of the National Physics Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center, and conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions on the construction and development of the Demonstration Center. The committee members unanimously agreed that the center's work achievements in 2022 were remarkable, especially in the platform construction where it played an exemplary and leading role. At the same time, the experts also made corresponding suggestions for the center's future work, hoping that the Demonstration Center can take advantage of the evaluation work of the national-level experimental teaching demonstration center in 2023, actively promote the center's construction in talent cultivation, teaching system, experimental team, and experimental resources to a new level, and give full play to the demonstration and leading role of the experimental center. They especially suggested that the Demonstration Center should focus on the transformation from talent cultivation capability to talent cultivation quality, precipitation of laboratory safety system and safety culture construction, strengthening the construction of experimental teaching staff, optimizing career development paths, and striving for promotion space for experimental sequence teachers. Finally, the annual work report of the National Physics Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center for 2022 was approved at the meeting.
Liu Yu, the Secretary of the School of Physical Science and Technology, expressed his gratitude on behalf of the school for the long-term care and guidance of the Teaching Guidance Committee of the National Physics Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center for the Experimental Center, and hoped that the committee members would provide more valuable suggestions to jointly promote the development of the Demonstration Center.
