The summer social practice team of School of Physical Science and Technology, Southwest Jiaotong University and FangTian successfully carried out online training on volunteer teaching

July 15, 2020, the team from School of Physical Science and Technology, Southwest Jiaotong University completed the preliminary investigation and preparations for serving the country people in three aspects in summer about “Fulcrum builds dreams, teaching for the future” in advance and started this social practice activity officially. This social practice team consists of seven core students from student organization of school, and this team was led by counselor Liu Yang.

The social practice team convened the first online training meeting by the platform called Tencent Meeting at 2:30 in the afternoon. The training specially invited teacher Li Yifan from FangTian to be the keynote speaker. Also at the meeting were Yu Mingzhu, school recruitment of FangTian in western region and Zhao Yuchen, school recruitment of FangTian in Anhui area.


During the meeting, teacher Li Yifan gave a lively explanation mainly on the teaching content, teaching methods and related announcements of the practice team.

First of all, Mr. Li gave a brief introduction to himself, and then he began to explain the content of the volunteer teaching classroom. He divided the class into three modules, namely “Magic Air”, “Magic World”, and “Magic Starry Sky”, and he sorted out and explained the specific experimental content of each module. Taking the particularity of online volunteer teaching into consideration, Mr. Li also pointed out that when recording class content, we are supposed to combine existing videos on the Internet instead of explaining continuously, otherwise the learning enthusiasm of lower grade students will not be motivated.

After completing the simulation explanation, Mr. Li made several suggestions to students: the first one is to slow down the speed of the speech and explain themselves clearly; the second is to make the procedure of the experiment clear and logical; the third is to use professional vocabulary as little as possible in the description and explain the principles of the experiment more popular.


Finally, Mr. Li also expressed his sincere wishes for the smooth progress of this volunteer teaching activity. After the training, the team members expressed that they had benefited a lot, divided up the work, and participated in subsequent practical activities.
