The 4th General Physics Knowledge Competition for Sichuan University Students was hosted by the Sichuan Physical Society and co-organized by many well-known universities. The Sichuan University General Physics Knowledge Competition was held in 2008, and the first seven sessions were held in Chengdu. Under the auspices of the Sichuan Physical Society, all universities in Sichuan Province responded positively. In 2015, the event was promoted to the entire Sichuan Province, which was warmly welcomed by the students of various universities and attracted wide attention.
On September 20, 2018, the 4th Sichuan University General Physics Knowledge Competition (Preliminary Competition) was held at Southwest Jiaotong University. After fierce competition, the team consisting of three members, Jiang Di, Wang Meijuan and Huang Bowen, was determined to participate in the finals held on October 27, 2018 in Yibin College of Sichuan Province. Before the finals, the leaders of the School of Physical Science and Technology and the Department of Physics attached great importance to the organization and planning. The Department of Physics selected Fan Daihe, a teacher with rich experience in the competition, to guide the students in the experimental competition. Zeng Yong and Zhu Hao, who have rich experience in the team, were selected as the team teachers to fully prepare for the finals.
On October 26, 2018, Zeng Yong and Zhu Hao led our team to the Yibin College of Sichuan Province and received a friendly reception from the host Yibin College. The three players recharged and prepared for the finals. The next day, the finals officially began. The finals were divided into an off-site question-and-answer session at 9:00 am and a mandatory and rush-answer session at 14:30. The three players were full of spirit, logical rigor, clear thinking, and played very well. They showed the spirit of contemporary college students and reflected the good physical quality of the students of Southwest Jiaotong University.
In the end, with the guidance of the two teamed teachers and the joint efforts of the three players, the team of our school stood out among the 24 teams with a total score of 129.5 points, and obtained the first prize of the 4th General Physics Knowledge Competition for Sichuan University Students , while Fan Daihe and Zeng Yong received the honorary title of “Excellent Instructor”!
Through this competition, not only the students' interest in learning physics knowledge, but also the students' physics basic knowledge, the students' practical ability, and the learning exchanges among the universities in Sichuan Province were also enhanced. And this competition shows the style of the students of Southwest Jiaotong University.
